What is Anti-Static Flooring?

Anti-static resin flooring is a specialised flooring solution designed to control and dissipate electrostatic discharge (ESD) in environments where sensitive electronic equipment, explosive materials, or flammable substances are present. This type of flooring combines the durability and chemical resistance of resin systems with the added advantage of preventing static electricity buildup. It accomplishes this through the inclusion of conductive or dissipative materials in the flooring matrix.

Do I Need Anti-Static Flooring?

If you work in hazardous areas, particularly where there are vapours or gases that could be ignited by a single small spark, anti-static flooring should be a necessity. For industrial projects where you are not sure if you really need an anti-static layer or not, we urge you to consider it. It does not prevent you from using any of the other features we offer, from visual finishes such as epoxy paint and line markings, to built-in features such as hygienic surfaces, extra grip textures and primer under-layers to protect against damp and oil. However, it does mean that you don’t need to worry about anyone getting an unexpected shock from the surface, and that your premises are suitable for uses in the future where static charges would otherwise be a concern.

Benefits of Anti-Static

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about our Anti-Static Services
What is anti-static flooring and why is it important?
Anti-static flooring prevents the build-up of static electricity, which is critical in environments with sensitive electronics or flammable substances.
What industries require anti-static floors?
Anti-static floors are essential in electronics manufacturing, pharmaceutical labs, data centres, and chemical processing plants.
How is anti-static flooring different from standard flooring?
Anti-static floors contain conductive materials that dissipate electrical charges safely through the floor system and into the ground.
Can anti-static flooring be customised for cleanrooms or labs?
Yes, we provide anti-static flooring systems that meet the strict cleanliness and conductivity standards required for cleanrooms and laboratories.
How do you test anti-static floor performance?
We use surface resistance meters and other specialised tools to test and certify anti-static flooring systems according to industry standards.
